  1. Goo luck! Let us know how it goes! I have loaded up on a few DGW players for GW 34. Now I have my eyes on the other double gameweeks. Son has a good run of fixtures coming up soon for example. Not many gw's left now!
  2. How do you you feel about international breaks? When I was young, I use to enjoy international football. I enjoyed watching the World Cup and Euro's on tv etc. This was the 90's. However, as I have gotten older I have lost some of the enjoyment factor with international football and I pay no attention to it now unless it's on in the background. And now of course, when it conflicts with the FPL gameweeks I tend to dislike it but I suppose I do enjoy having a break from FPL once in a while.
  3. When it comes to "Your Defence" in FPL....does you team struggle to pick up points? I often find players who are new to FPL often overlook how important a good defensive plan can be, and even misunderstand how they can get the best from their defensive players. Below are some simple points for you to consider when planning your FPL defence. Your Defence: You must choose 5 defenders. It is recommended that you choose 5 players who start for their teams to use and rotate. Defenders points returns are mainly from clean sheets, assists and bonus points. Whilst some may get the odd goal. I would recommended to start with 3 defenders, rather than 4 or 5 each week. You generally have more returns by starting with more midfielders and strikers in your team, therefore starting with 3 defenders allows for more attacking options. With additional minutes being played from the 2023/2024 season, there is a higher chance of late goals being conceded and therefore defenders not keeping a clean sheet. This is another reason to only start with 3 defenders. The 3 defenders that you choose should ideally be wing backs or a player involved in teams attacking approach. A wing back plays as a defender and a midfielder. A wing back has the possibility scoring points for assist as well as getting a clean sheet. Your defence doesn't have to be taken up by premium players, however there is no harm in having at least 1 premium defender. Your defenders do not need to be from all the top tier clubs. However, you may want to choose some from the likes of Arsenal and Man City etc. Mid table teams often get clean sheets and should also be considered when planning. Ideally, you should look at 10-15 games ahead and look at a match planner to see which teams have the best fixtures to potentially keep a clean sheet / get goals. Then rotate your 5 players accordingly based on the 10-15 game schedule. FPL Hoodini
  4. I had to used my WC early in the 2nd half of the season because of injuries. I also used my FH for GW29 which didn't go so well. I do have my TC and BB left though. My plan is to look at the remaining 9 game weeks on a fixture planner that colour codes the games for teams in green, amber or red for goals and clean sheets. Then I base my teams off this method. I used the one on fantasy football hub, but I know there are freebies out there. I have seen a few on some apps also. First I focus on defence and look at the teams with good home fixtures, then I try and choose attacking return defenders. Then I look at goal potential and choose my midfield. and forwards. I always play a 3-5-2 formation if I can. That's how I start anyway, until injuries and suspensions kick in.
  5. Interesting.... I also started a B team basically to try different approaches to the FPL game. For a while I found the B team were better than my main team. I put this down to being more care free with my transfers and captains choices, rather than over thinking it. However, overtime when it came to injuries, WC's, etc it became too time consuming to focus on two teams. Then my B team dropped in rank after a few tough game weeks and I still haven't been able to pull it back.
  6. My story goes back to the 22/23 season when Son wasn't scoring for Spurs. As above, I was competing in my mini league. I was at work saying how I was going to bring in Son. I said he was overdue a goal and he is bound to score because he has gone around 6-7 weeks without a goal. My mate at work laughed at me. This was the week when I used my Free Hit. So the gameweek deadline comes and goes, only to find out Son was benched when the team sheets are released. Sigh! I look at my phone and there was no sign of him being brought on until mid way through the 2nd half. Yay I thought, 1 point! Then a few minutes later my phone pings, Son scores, a few minutes after that another ping, Son got a 2nd goal, and yes a few minutes later Son scored his 3rd goal!!! I was bouncing and I went into work on Monday reminding everyone. And of course....I never brought Son in my team again all season after that and I bagged his 19 points.
  7. Ok, so I will go first.... Team: Sheffield Wednesday FC Why?: Although I do not live in Sheffield, my dad, uncle and nan all supported Sheffield Wednesday. A part of my nans family lived in and around Hillsborough, Sheffield so the family influence was always there. I just stuck with the tradition and followed the team that I heard so much about. Also winning the League Cup in '91 in my childhood was also a big influence. It is just a shame we have not been able to make it back to the Premier League in 24 years.
  8. So, we all have had those moments in FPL when we have pulled off a transfer or two that have paid off significantly. Does anyone have any stories to tell?
  9. I think I started back in 2008 or 2009 for the 2nd half of the season. I seem to recall Ronaldo was on fire for United around the time. Then I had a bit of a gap for a few years and started playing consistently in 2013/2014.
  10. Your game week 21 thread is now live...... What transfers are you making?
  11. Gameweek 20 is upon us. The last of 2023. Get posting those teams. This is the last game week before the wildcard options becomes available again.
  12. Ahh what a tough week. 36 points from 10 players. You could say 9 players if you count Burn with 0. lol Slight red arrow of 100k. 900k rank. Hopefully I can field 11 players next week as I have no suspensions for the first time in a few week. Nevermind. Onwards and upwards!
  13. Have you ever found yourself fretting over a lack of clean sheets in your FPL team? One position that can be rather frustrating and one that is perhaps not the most attractive in FPL is the position of the goalkeeper. Therefore to help you understand this position a bit better and to gain the most points from this position, I have written a summary below of what you need to consider when choosing your FPL goalkeeping strategy. That is, if you have a strategy.... Goalkeepers: You are required to own two goalkeepers to within your £100m budget. Goalkeepers gain points from minutes played, saves, penalty saves, clean sheets and ultimately bonus points. There are two main strategies you can take when choosing your team. Strategy 1: The Goalkeeping Rotation This is when you choose two goalkeepers who are constant starters in the PL. i.e. they are two number ones. The idea behind this strategy is that you get to swap your keepers around depending on what fixtures they have. Let's say your first choice is a Spurs keeper and your 2nd choice is the Everton keeper. An example of this is perhaps your first choice keeper is playing 2 homes fixtures in a row against weaker sides i.e. Burnley and Sheffield United. Whilst, then your 2nd choice keeper has a run of 2 fixtures after that where he has the most favourable choices against weaker sides in the run of fixtures. The idea being, you put yourself in a position to swap your keepers depending on the best possible outcome. This gives you a more favourable chance of getting some clean sheets points. Ultimately, you want look at the fixture list in the first 20 games to see which two goalkeepers you can afford that are the best to rotate between fixtures. All you need is a fixture schedule and fixture difficulty rating for this. The difficulty with this strategy is that you may find it difficult to afford x 2 higher end goalkeepers within your 100m squad. So, you may need to choose two cheaper option goalkeepers to rotate. Strategy 2: The Static Approach The 2nd approach and probably the most old school is choosing 1 main keeper who costs a bit more, then choosing a 2nd keeper who is cheaper but is still a first choice for his team. An example of this may be an Arsenal goalkeeper who costs around £5.5m and then a Forest goalkeeper who costs £4m. The idea behind this strategy is to choose the best defensive team over 38 gameweeks to seek those clean sheets, whilst you have a back up keeper in case your main keeper gets injured. The 2nd choice may not score that many, but some points are better than no points. One benefit of this strategy is that you get to choose your keepers and forget about it until there is a problem with injuries. Which strategy do you prefer? FPL Hoodini
  14. This is how I line up. Damage limitation for me this week. I too am juggling so many suspensions and injuries lately. Maguire out and Burn in.
